چکیده

Recently it was reported from this laboratory as one of a series of studies on the Salivary Gland Hormones, that liver and spleen were the main and characteristic sites of localization of radioactivity after administration of I 131 labeled Parotin to rats(Tanaka and Ito, 1958). And subsequently it was also observed that this characteristic localization of radioactivity in the liver and spleen and the rate of degradation of I 131-Parotin in vivo were remarkably decreased by the simultaneous injection of intact Parotin with the labeled Parotin to rats(Tanaka et al., 1958). This report presents the results of studies on the in vitro degradation of I 131labeled Parotin and other similarly radioiodinated proteins such as bovine serum albumin(B. S. A.), pituitary growth hormone(GH)and casein by several tissue homogenates of rat.

Studies on the salivary gland hormones labeled with I 131. 3. Effect of ligation of several blood vessels on the degradation and distribution of I 131-labeled parotin in vivo.

Previously it was reported that large localization of radioactivity was found in liver, kidney and spleen following the intravenous injection of I 131-labeled Parotin to rats(Tanaka and Ito,1958). And subsequently it was also observed that the rate of degradation of I 131-labeled Parotin in vivo was remarkably decreased by the simultaneous injection of intact Parotin with the labeled Parotin to...

Studies on the physiological chemistry of the salivary glands. XXXVIII. Proteolytic activity of human saliva.

Recently it was reported that submaxillary gland homogenate of rat degraded I131-labeled Parotin, growth hormone, and casein with remarkable rapidity as compared with kidney, liver, spleen, pancreas, testis, muscle, and parotid gland homogenates. This rapid degradation of the labeled proteins by rat submaxillary homogenate was found to be proteolytic in nature, by quantitative paperchromatograp...

Radioiodine therapy for hyperthyroidism

Radioiodine therapy is the safest, simplest, least expensive and most effective method for treatment of hyperthyroidism. The method employed in this research was a systematic bibliographic review, in which only valid studies or the clinically detailed enough open-labeled studies using validated scales were used. Iodine-131 (I-131) acts by the destructive effect of short-range beta radiation on ...

Comparison of Absorbed Fraction of Gamma and Beta Rays of I-124 and I-131radio-Isotopes in Thyroid Gland with Monte Carlo Simulation

I131 is a famous radio-iodine isotope in use for diagnosis and treatment of hyper functioning and cancerous thyroid gland. It is a nuclear reactor product; however nuclear reactor may be unavailable in some areas. Replacement by I-124 may be possible, another iodine isotope producible by cyclotron; a system more available than reactor. Here absorbed fraction of Gamma and Beta rays of...
